The Sandman. Series review

Rating 10 out of 10. A must watch.

From the first minutes the series really does pull you in. Oddly enough the very first episode is the most interesting. But by the end of episodes one to three it feels like the series is very boring and nothing is happening.

That is not the case.

It really is an unhurried series, because it is about Morpheus, the god of dreams. From episode five on it genuinely keeps you on edge. It is shot in this slow way precisely because our dreams are slow. Sleep is not a hurried business. Sleep is strange, sometimes dark, and completely inexplicable. For more than two thousand years people have claimed to see prophetic dreams.

The first season holds a gripping story that ends in a rather interesting way. There are a few plot twists that suggest more than one season is coming, and that the second will be much better than the first. The main thing in projects like this is not to drag the idea out and to finish on time. But I am already waiting for the continuation.

The episodes are a bit long, but once you get used to that and accept it, the pleasure is real.
