Another Halo shooter came out recently, the fourth one by now I think, and everyone was squealing with excitement. They were giving away graphics cards and all sorts. Well, back in the day I skipped this shooter because it struck me as dumb and repetitive. But that was about fifteen years ago.
I thought maybe I had missed something, and decided to play a little or even finish it. Surely the game cannot be long, or that boring.
Turns out it can.
The plot is fairly basic: aliens attacked, a hero in cool armour will sort them all out. The graphics and the gameplay were a bit behind even for their time. The graphics have no detail at all, it feels like nobody wanted to make them.
Serious Sam at least was fun.
Well, never mind. In short, when someone tells you that Americans are dumb and they like dumb things too, that is exactly about Halo, part one.
Only later did I realise there is a remaster with better graphics. But that will probably be part two some day, just to tick the box, because I watched a video and it is much the same.
Still, I have to finish it, a bit of a challenge, otherwise what kind of gamer am I if I do not finish a cult saga. Only then will I be able to call it rubbish properly.
Deus Ex, Wolfenstein, now those were something. I installed them again recently and played through with pleasure. This one is so-so, I did not get it.
